Your Team
The Private Markets team is part of CFS’s Superannuation & Investments Team which is accountable for the delivery of our private markets strategy (infrastructure, property and private equity). The Investment Director reports to Executive Director, Head of Unlisted Assets & Private Equity.
This position can be located in Sydney or Melbourne.
Your Responsibilities
You will be central to the build out of the Private Markets capability, with key responsibilities including:
- Assisting in developing and executing investment strategies for private equity, property and infrastructure.
- Rigorously identifying and selecting new managers, coinvestment and direct opportunities, producing thorough and quality analysis in line with key investment criteria.
- Identifying and developing robust investment theses, lead the execution of investments including due diligence, negotiation and transaction structuring.
- Conducting and overseeing complex financial modelling.
- Preparing investment recommendations for the investment committee and other decision-making bodies.
- Taking ownership of transactions, ensuring smooth coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Closely monitoring the performance of existing investments and managers, developing operational improvements and identifying new ways to create value across the portfolio.
- Evaluating, recommending, and implementing strategies for portfolio assets and managers.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive reporting frameworks for unlisted asset holdings.
Your Capability and Experience
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about joining a dynamic team where they can be integral to growth and help define the private markets portfolio for further expansion.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with unlisted assets including:
- Expertise in manager selection and driving strong partnerships with external parties.
- Extensive transactional experience across private equity or infrastructure, within a fund, institutional investor or investment banking environment. This includes expertise in fund manager appointment, coinvestment, direct investment and divestments.
- Advanced financial modelling skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of investment principles and associated risks applicable to both direct investments and externally managed portfolios.
- Strong network of relationships across fund managers, financial and investment partners, advisors and banks.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously.
- Transparent, collaborative and naturally curious with a desire to deliver excellence in a high performing, growth oriented team.
- Graduate degree with a major in business administration, finance or any related discipline.
