Our growing team of aviation specialists provides support to our clients in the areas of aerodrome design, project management and construction, maintenance, technical inspections and aerodrome surveys, operational readiness, airport security, training, regulatory compliance, audits, and ongoing daily operations.

About the role

AMS has an exciting opportunity for Aviation Screening Officers to join our team at Weipa Airport on a casual basis. Successful applicants must be flexible and available to work Monday to Sunday between the hours of 5am and 8pm. At this time, we are only considering candidates on a residential basis.

An Aviation Screener’s role is diverse, but ultimately focuses on ensuring the safety, security and integrity of the airport, aircraft, and passengers. The Aviation Screening Officer is responsible for providing a positive customer experience with attention to aviation security regulations at the Airport. The Officer would be involved with and responsible for the completion of all aviation screening tasks. The candidate will have demonstrated abilities to work in a fast-paced changing environment, with a willingness to learn and train in the aviation sector. Ideally you will have proven experience and knowledge in the customer service industry.

About you

You understand the vital importance of aerodromes to the aviation industry, and you already know this niche sector has a lot going for it! AMS will provide ongoing training and professional development to support this next step in your career, but you’ll already be off to a great start if you have previous experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Either a Certificate II in Transport Security Protection or ability to obtain
  • Ability to attain Dangerous Goods Awareness Training and First Aid certificate
  • Hold or have the ability to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and work well in public and a team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • A professional attitude and excellent grooming standards
  • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills
