Skytrans is an Australian-based passenger airline and a proud member of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance). With over 30 years of experience serving the Cape York and Torres Strait regions, we specialise in providing reliable ACMI and RPT services.
Founded in 1990, Skytrans employs over 250 staff, with operations based in Cairns, Brisbane, Townsville, Rockhampton, and Horn Island. As we continue to grow, including the recent addition of Airbus aircraft to our AOC, we are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our Safety and Quality team.
About the Role
Reporting to the GM Safety & Quality, the Safety & Quality Officer will administer safety and quality policies and procedures as outlined in company documentation. This includes monitoring performance standards, managing compliance requirements, and ensuring key safety objectives and action timeframes are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee safety and quality assurance for client contract operations.
- Conduct internal and external audits to assess compliance and performance
- Evaluate the effectiveness of remedial and corrective actions in response to occurrences, investigations, and audit outcomes
- Assist in managing audit findings to closure.
- Administer Air Maestro system data and reporting requirements
- Manage and oversee the Risk Management System, ensuring accurate reporting
- Promote and implement the SMM program, including compliance with client and contract-specific safety requirements
- Represent Skytrans in client meetings regarding safety and quality matters
- Perform other duties within the scope, capability, and training of the role as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in aviation safety and quality assurance
- Strong understanding of safety management systems and regulatory requirements
- Experience in risk management and audit processes
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Experience with Air Maestro or similar safety management systems (preferred)
