Applications are invited for the temporary vacancy of a Senior Education Officer Capability (SEOC) to be part of the Education Futures Institute in the Queensland Department of Education in Metro North Region.

The SEOC will report to the Director Capability in Metropolitan North Region based at Nundah regional offices.
The successful candidate will be employed at the classification listed on the attached role description under EOSD provisions.
The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.
The EFI provides customised and co-designed professional learning programs to meet the needs of staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to excel in their role.
Your Role
The Senior Education Officers Capability (SEOC) is required to work with regional teams and collaborate with a network of peers around the state to provide targeted capability development to school teams in the following priority areas:
- Strengthen school leaderships', curriculum leaders' and teachers' knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and related disciplinary knowledge by focusing professional development on what students are to learn, evidence-based teaching strategies, and how to differentiate learning to achieve improvement.
- Deliver professional learning and capability for educators, aligned to the implementation of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA senior syllabus, with a focus on school leaders, to enact Equity and Excellence, priorities and focus capability areas.
- • Work with your regional team and collaborate with a network of peers around the state in regional campuses and a centrally located team to provide targeted capability development to school teams in the following priority areas:
- Australian Curriculum;
- Reading;
- Effective, evidence-informed whole school approach to pedagogy;
- Junior Secondary pedagogy; and
- Early Years/K-2 ‘Starting Strong'.
About You
Within the context of the role described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
- Demonstrated teaching and learning competence and capacity to provide pedagogical leadership to promote the achievement of effective teachers and quality learning outcomes for students.
- Demonstrated competence to lead strategically, make insightful, courageous and ethical decisions and lead change in complex environments.
- Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining relationships through clarity, engagement and purpose, with a collaborative focus on outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate evidence based, targeted professional learning opportunities that build leader and teacher expertise and improve outcomes for students.
Mandatory Requirements:
- You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award – State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments.
- Employees' engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 5.12 of the Department of Education State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2022
- When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
