About the Role:
Shadbolt Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team for long-term projects in South Australia. As a Welding Supervisor , you will play a critical role in overseeing welding operations, ensuring quality control, supervising a team, and maintaining safety standards on-site. You will be responsible for the qualification of welders, conducting inspections, and working closely with various departments to meet production goals in shipbuilding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of tradespeople, apprentices, and contractors in daily production tasks.
- Ensure all welders are qualified to the required procedures.
- Monitor and maintain welding equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain welding specifications, ensuring procedures are documented and archived.
- Coordinate work activities to meet safety, quality, cost, and scheduling targets.
- Inspect welds to ensure customer standards are met.
- Provide training and development for apprentices and junior tradespeople.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with WHSE protocols.
- Conduct pre-start and close-out meetings, reporting issues and suggesting improvements.
- Manage subcontractors working within the workshop.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Proven experience in heavy fabrication and welding supervision.
- Familiarity with welding various materials including stainless steel, duplex, titanium, and more.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Experience in shipbuilding or oil & gas is highly preferable.
- Excellent communication and documentation management skills.
- High attention to detail and exceptional quality standards.
- Ability to manage resources effectively and meet deadlines.
- A commitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement in the workplace.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification in C10 AS1796 & AS2214.
- CSWIP 3.1 / IIW certification (preferable).
- 3+ years of welding supervision experience.
- Cert 3 in fabrication with 10+ years of experience (preferable).
- Frontline Supervision Cert 4 (preferable).
- First Aid Certificate (preferable).
- Current motor vehicle driver’s license.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Pre-employment Medical Check: A clear pre-employment medical check will be required.
- Police Check: A satisfactory police check will be conducted as part of the recruitment process.
