The RoleAt the High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Office (HFSSPO), our purpose is to acquire and sustain a world leading High Frequency Radar network in support of Australian’s National Defence. To support this, we are seeking an experienced Business Manager to spearhead business operations in our Acquisition Office.
The Business Manager is responsible for the day to day finance, risk analysis and business activities of the Acquisition Office (AO). They are responsible for leading and managing the AO Business Management team providing planning, governance, financial reporting, budget estimates, procurement and administration.
The Business Manager is responsible for ensuring the Acquisition Office meets their financial responsibilities in line with relevant authorities and budget commitments. They will work with a diverse array of stakeholders, across multiple domains, to achieve business and governance outcomes.
Key tasks will include:
Providing expert policy advice on procurement, contracting and financial functionsManaging major acquisition project budgets ensuring efficient allocation and utilisation of Commonwealth fundsInterpreting complex financial informationIdentify risks and opportunities and take account of these in planning, decision-making and priority settingAccurate and timely finance reporting in accordance with legislative and corporate policy requirementsManage stakeholder relationships to deliver efficient and accurate business managementEvaluation of tender negotiations, survey and quote submissions and review of financial aspects of contracts agreements and amendments

To succeed in this role, you will have:
Experience and knowledge of Government procurement and financial management frameworksIn-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and policy requirementsThe ability to actively influence and engage stakeholders to ensure that financial risks are identified and addressed proactivelyPerforming complex financial management of budget portfolios within the constraints of legislative and policy frameworksEffective communication skills to engage with senior stakeholdersThe ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a high performing team to harness information to support strategic direction
