Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Estimator. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical projects, from the conceptual stage through to the final bid submission. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical and systems, construction processes, and the ability to interpret scope of works, drawings, and project specifications. You will report to Senior Management and work with the estimating team.
Your Main Responsibilities:
• Cost Estimation: Scope out project requirements, including plans, specifications, and related documents, to determine labour, material, and equipment costs for electrical installations.
• Bid Preparation: Prepare competitive and comprehensive electrical estimates and cost breakdowns for projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accurately represented.
• Quantity Takeoffs: Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical and communications materials.
• Collaboration with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to assess project scopes, timelines, and potential risks. Assist in evaluating project feasibility and budget alignment.
• Vendor/Contractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure competitive pricing and quality materials.
• Site Visits: Conduct on-site evaluations as necessary to assess project conditions, obtain measurements, and clarify specific project requirements.
• Cost Control: Monitor and track project costs during execution, ensuring adherence to initial estimates and identifying areas of potential cost savings.
• Risk Assessment: Identify and assess any project risks (such as delays, material shortages, or code compliance) and factor these into cost estimates and overall project plans.
• Proposal Submission: Prepare detailed proposals for submission to clients and contractors, ensuring compliance with all client specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain Database: Keep a comprehensive record of historical project costs and data for future reference and comparison.
• Client Relationships: Maintain and build relationships with our key clients.
What You'll Need To Have:
• Knowledge and Qualifications: Strong understanding of Australian Electrical Standards and compliance requirements.
• Experience: If you already perform a similar role or are willing to grow into it.
• Licenses: Electrical and Driver’s license.
Clear Record: Our staff require several different clearances, and a criminal record will prohibit this.
