The Role:


Menzies School of Health Research is looking to engage a Research Midwife to be part of the research team for the Azithromycin at Birth Trial.


The Research Midwife will work with the research team to provide high quality, respectful, culturally sensitive clinical assessments, obtain informed consent, arranging follow up visits with women and babies after birth in hospital, clinic and community health services for clinical data and specimen collection.


The successful applicant will receive training in research methodologies for the trial, according to the protocol and procedures.


This position is based in Darwin. The successful applicant will be required to travel to remote communities across the Top End of the Northern Territory via light aircraft and/or 4WD for up to 5 days per trip and up to 2 trips per month.



What you will bring to the role:


As a motivated individual and qualified health professional, you will have tertiary qualifications in midwifery with relevant proven clinical experience in either a hospital or community-based health service and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).


The successful applicant will also have exceptional written and communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations, and the ability to work collaboratively with health professionals and academic colleagues. This position requires the ability to work sensitively in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings with the skills to engage and communicate with First Nations peoples.

Benefits of working for Menzies:


6 weeks annual leave


Base salary of $99,341 - $107,806 per annum, pro-rata


Total remuneration package including superannuation and salary packaging benefits of $123,393 – $133,092 per annum, pro-rata


Option of increasing superannuation contribution to 14%
