How will I help?
Your role as Data Analyst within Credit Optimisation contributes to our vision to be one of the world's great service companies, helping our customers, communities and people to prosper and grow. Reporting to the Head of Credit Optimisation , for 7 months you will be required to:
- Leverage broad knowledge of WBC Consumer lending products in facilitating the ongoing refinement of our monthly comprehensive credit reporting and default data supply by modifying/creating extraction code within SAS or other suitable programming languages.
- Managing enhancements to data supply as a result of customer complaints, AFCA determinations, regulatory or code-based data exchange requirements re CCR data
- Maintain strong internal relationships with technology and business partners, enabling issue free data supply in line with regulatory requirements
- Contribute to ad hoc and strategic program activities in response to change legislative or regulatory credit reporting requirements.
Your responsibilities will be centred around risk management and include the following tasks:
- Maintaining an effective partnership with internal and external business stakeholders in the data supply value chain, technology, Group Data, compliance / legal, Retail Credit Portfolio Management, Customer Complaints, Credit Reference Agencies, and ARCA.
- Development, implementation and monitoring of effective credit reference agency data supply policies, processes and controls, supporting the transmission of data to support Comprehensive Credit Reporting, Default provision and other data sharing protocols.
- Managing the formal catalogue of data provision coding.
- Contribute to group programs that interact with credit reference agency data supply processes.

What do I need?
To excel in this role at Westpac, you will need tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in risk management or data analytics. Strong SAS programming skills and a solid understanding of unsecured credit product data are essential. Additionally, proficiency in data extraction, manipulation, and analysis is required to effectively perform in this position.
Further advantageous qualities & skills include:
- Sound knowledge of the Credit Reference Agency landscape in Australia, including past experience in management data provision activities
- Desirable practical experience in retail credit portfolio management activities, for example, credit underwriting and credit policy management.
- Knowledge of the compliance and regulatory environment related to consumer credit
