How will I help?
Westpac is undertaking a large-scale Technology Simplification program. As part of this program, we are looking at migrating our accounts from Group Hogan to our internal Core banking technology (TBK). For this program we are looking for support in resourcing Technology Business Analysts to sit within the Cash and Transactional Banking team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technology business analyst background ideally in data or credit risk. The candidate also needs to have a proven track record in leading data migration projects, including legacy system transitions. This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
- Help understand existing as-is functionality & product rules of the systems with your deep SME platform knowledge to refine system specific requirements and identify potential gaps
- Define the mapping for UI/API's involved by working with Business analyst, solution designer and CX Designers. Preference for end to end BA experience.
- Identify and capture application specific technical requirements to plug-in to existing systems and process flow incl. reporting etc.
- Optimise delivery by being able to identify and recommend appropriate solutions to complex problems, balancing requirements and technical limitations whilst maintaining the focus on the target outcomes.
- Identify existing product rules and define future state
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and establish working relationships with the product owner and other interfacing teams.
- Foster an environment that promotes psychological safety, continuous improvement, and effective risk management
- Contribute to capturing and managing RAID for the initiative.
- Ability to clearly document the functional as well as technical Requirements – act as the bridge between the Business and Developers
- Excellent understanding of tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio etc.
- Liaise and collaborate with external teams as required

What do I need?
Mandatory Skills & Experience:
- 10 years of experience across the following fields: Business Analysis, Technical Analysis and Data Analysis.
- Data Migration Experience – Proven track record in leading data migration projects, including legacy system transitions.
- SQL & Data Analysis – Ability to query, validate, and analyse large datasets.
- ETL Knowledge – Understanding of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and tools.
- Data Mapping & Modelling – Experience in defining source-to-target data mapping and working with data models.
- Data Quality & Governance – Knowledge of data validation, cleansing, and governance best practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business / Information Technology or equivalent experience.
- Deep knowledge in both waterfall and agile principles with practical experience in End-to-End agile delivery processes.
- Experience in writing Functional Specification documents.
- In depth knowledge of eliciting User Stories and acceptance criteria.
- Experience with supporting and can contribute to testing during the lifecycle of the engagement.
- Exceptional Communication, Requirements analysis, Technical Analysis and documentation skills.
- A high level of flexibility and adaptability to respond in a very dynamic project environment.
- Ability to identify and manage RAID items.
- Proficient in Jira and Confluence with experience in building backlogs and dashboards in Confluence.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of Cash and Transactional Banking products.
- Core banking experience with industry knowledge of best practices.
- Understanding of the Business architecture that supports a core banking system.
