About the role
Embark on a meaningful journey as a Counsellor and Case Worker at CatholicCare NT. A unique hybrid role where you'll join a collaborative team dedicated to delivering culturally sensitive, high-quality social services supporting the delivery of our Children & Parenting, Counselling and Safe Houses programs in the Daly River region.
The Counsellor component of the role will see you attend Saint Francis Xavier School once a week with a focus on enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people by supporting them to navigate changes in family dynamics and providing emotional support following trauma, particularly related to Domestic and Family Violence. The second component of the role is responsible for delivering education and groupwork activities for the above programs as well as support case management for parenting and children within the Safe House and in the community.
What we are looking for
- Relevant degree and experience in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work and experience working with children, young people, adults and families.
- Demonstrated experience in using a broad range of evidence-based counselling and group work approaches to support client outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with and manage complex situations, involving mental health, family violence, alcohol and other drug misuse.
- Advocate clients and work effectively with stakeholders to meet the objectives of the program.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people.
