Anglicare have an exciting opportunity for a Community Pantry Support Worker, 1.5 days a week, to join our team in TAMWORTH NSW. This role is a permanent part time support role, working behind the scenes of our vibrant community pantries. This position would suit a Tamworth based person who is a regular attender of a Christian Church.

About the role:
Anglicare are looking for a staff member 1.5 days per week who has initiative and enthusiasm to support those in the community who struggle with issues relating to food insecurity. Anglicare provides a pantry service through a Mobile Community Pantry van, in conjunction with the Tamworth Anglican Churches. This role will be responsible for the ordering, reconciliation and packing of the van. Occasional driving of the van will be needed and filling in at pantry sites when they are short on church volunteers. This position is located in the Tamworth area but will include some outreach to surrounding communities. There will be access to a work pool car, computer and mobile phone for work purposes.
Key responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Supporting people with food insecurity issues to access sustainable food options
- Provide support to Churches who are running the Community Pantry initiative
- Establish positive relationships with the clients, staff, Churches and other organisations
- Promote Anglicare’s services in a positive manner
- Assess client safety, planning, and intervening where appropriate, by ensuring the well-being of the client
- Ensure that reports are prompt and an accurate record of observations, risks, interactions and dynamics
About you:
- No qualifications are required for this role
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable people is preferred
- NSW Drivers licence
- Knowledge of social and community vulnerabilities and the impacts they have on a person’s life
- Skills in establishing rapport, respectfully communicating expectations and being assertive
- Excellent observation, written and verbal communication skills
- Working with Children’s Check
- Police Check
- First Aid Certificate desirable
