The Opportunity
UGL is on the lookout for an experienced Contracts Manager for an exciting role on an innovative and market leading project in the rail industry.
Reporting into the Commercial Manager and working closely with the Project Manager and Design team, this role plays a vital part in the upstream commercial relationship with our client.
Key responsibilities include.
- Assess upstream and downstream commercial and contractual risks, identify and implement appropriate controls and escalate actual or potential issues to Commercial Manager and Project Manager.
- Ensure upstream contracts are administered effectively to ensure responsibilities and obligations of the contract are met, and UGL’s rights and interests are protected in a manner that is timely, accurate and compliant.
- Negotiate subcontract and supplier contract terms, conditions and pricing and follow up to ensure execution according to the negotiated terms.
- Lead scope of works planning, ensuring that scope gaps are minimised, cost efficiencies are maximised and subcontractor capabilities are considered.
- Maintain contact and good working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and maintain good awareness of market conditions and movements.
- Provide clear, concise advice to project teams in relation to upstream contractual rights and obligations.
Requirements to be successful.
- 5-7 Years experience in a similar role, preferably within the Infrastructure / Construction Sector
- Tertiary education in Engineering, Commerce, Business, Law, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated commercial acumen working upstream with ability to manage, interpret and apply contracts
- Advanced negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management abilities supported by high level of verbal and written communication skills.
