DescriptionThe Role:
Carey Baptist Grammar School are currently seeking an experience rowing professional to join the team as the Head of Rowing – Development. In this position, you will contribute your specialised rowing expertise to shape the future of the Carey Rowing program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of passionate coaches in the delivery of this program to students across years eight to twelve.
This is a full-time, permanent position, commencing in Term 2, 2025. There is a requirement to work during school holidays.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with the Head of Rowing – Operations to oversee the successful delivery of the Carey Rowing program
- Develop, manage and coordinate structured programs for all year levels
- Manage and implement regattas, camps training programs, safety practices, events and staff development across the program
- Lead and develop a team of rowing coaches in best practice
- Contribute to the recruitment and selection process for coaches
- Work in partnership with the Rowing Wellbeing Manager to monitor student health and wellbeing
- Ensure a high level of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) is maintained across camps, training sessions and regattas and complete frequent risk assessments
- Operate within budgets and coordinate the purchasing and leasing of equipment
- Liaise with the Boatperson and Boat Shed Manager develop a fleet management plan and ensure equipment is well-maintained
- Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders
The Person:
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Previous experience in a similar leadership position
- Demonstrated coaching experience
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
- Exceptional time management and problem-solving abilities
- A passion for coaching and development
- Excellent technical knowledge in the sport of rowing
- Minimum Level 2 Rowing Coaching accreditation
- First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis certifications
- Driver’s license and experience in trailer towing
- Marine Boat License
A valid Employee Working With Children Check or a Valid Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration is a requirement of employment in this position.
