Dalby Full-day Full-time

Description:

Job Description:

Better and fairer care. Always.

St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. We are a microcosm of our Australia’s health and aged care system and are uniquely positioned to lead and respond to our rapidly changing environment.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent’s kind of person. Someone who puts compassion, connection and caring for other people at the heart of everything they do.

Reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Medical Director of Medical Imaging to drive clinical and commercial performance.

Operating across St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and supporting our St Vincent’s Melbourne Private Hospitals, located on the home of the Wurundjeri people, the Medical Director of Medical Imaging will bring extensive industry expertise and demonstrated experience delivering organisational change and capability uplift, complimented with a high level of commercial nous and financial accountability.

These should be underpinned by a calm and supportive leadership style, comfortable fostering open and honest discussion across “One St Vincent’s”.

Key to success in the role will be a collaborative inter-professional approach, committed to elevating departmental capabilities, ultimately ensuring St Vincent’s delivers the highest calibre of patient-centred healthcare outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Primary day to day accountabilities for this business-critical appointment include:

  • Provide strategic, clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence based Medical Imaging Services

  • Promote a culture that values high quality clinical care, supports learning and encourages reporting of errors

  • Develop strategic and operational plans for Medical Imaging that are aligned and consistent with the St Vincent’s Health Australia’s strategic plan

  • Be responsible (in association with the other senior clinical academic staff) for the coordination and ongoing development of the teaching of Diagnostic Imaging within St Vincent’s Hospital Clinical School, University of Melbourne Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

  • Provide leadership and foster excellence in research

  • Work closely with academic colleagues to develop and implement a research strategy for the Department

  • Actively manage individual and team performance to maximise performance and minimise workplace problems and conflict

  • Continuously seek individual and team improvement and take responsibility for the introduction of any changes required to bring about such improvements

  • Provide leadership in organisational issues and ensure that operational and financial performance targets are met

  • Ensure all staff behaving professionally and in accordance with the SVHM Code of Conduct and undertake annual Workplace Culture and Equity Training

  • Identify and manage workplace risks and hazards and actively assist the return to work of any employee injured at work

This is an exciting time to join St Vincent’s with an increased focus on research capability and scope, as demonstrated by our ongoing partnerships with Melbourne University and the Cancer Centre.

With access to our newly fitted out, state of the art Private Hospital facilities commencing in early March, this opportunity presents at a unique moment in time for St Vincent’s.

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia

  • Extensive experience in diagnostic and/or interventional radiology, with the ability to lead service delivery across general imaging, subspecialty areas, and advanced interventional procedures

  • Ability to develop and implement clinical governance frameworks to ensure high standards of patient care and safety

  • Proven track record in clinical research, with experience in leading or participating in research projects, securing funding, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals

  • Ability to foster a culture of research and evidence-based practice, supporting staff involvement in research initiatives

  • Strong knowledge of public and private sector radiology operations, with experience in managing both settings desirable

  • Ability to drive innovation in imaging services, including new imaging modalities, digital transformation, and integration of AI and automation.
