About the Role:
A well-established manufacturing company within the Building & Construction industry is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Document Controller to join their Engineering and Capital Projects team. Based on the Mornington Peninsula, this position will be responsible for managing and controlling engineering documents while ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
Reporting to the Drafting Office Supervisor, the successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering and Capital Project Manager, Assets Manager, and Manufacturing teams. The role involves the management and quality control of plant engineering drawings, as well as overseeing document registers and archives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administration & Quality Control: Oversee the administration of the plant’s engineering drawing system, ensuring documents are correctly filed, updated, and controlled.
- Document Management: Manage both electronic and hard copy engineering drawings, ensuring their integrity, version control, and easy retrieval.
- Technical Document Registers: Administer and maintain registers for technical documents, such as manuals, equipment registers, and other key engineering documents.
- Consumables Management: Order and manage necessary consumables for document-related tasks, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies.
- Document Printing & Scanning: Manage large format document printing and scanning equipment, ensuring that all technical drawings are available in the required formats.
- Document Archive Management: Oversee the document archive strong room, ensuring that all documents are securely stored and easily accessible.
- Minor Drafting Work: Assist in basic engineering drafting tasks as required to support project teams.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with PDF Writer for documentation editing and format adjustments
- Previous experience in document control and document management
- Proficiency in document management systems and strong copy and electronic archiving knowledge
- Solid understanding of change management and version control
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Familiarity with engineering and manufacturing terminology and documentation processes
- Basic AutoCAD skills are preferred but not mandatory
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Highly organised with excellent time-management skills
- This is a long-term opportunity, expected to last for 12 months or more , with potential for extension depending on business needs and performance.
