My client is a leading wholesale residential builder in Melbourne, committed to delivering high-quality homes with exceptional customer service. Their team specialize in creating homes that meet the diverse needs of their clients, and they pride themselves on their ability to deliver projects on time and within budget. As they continue to grow, they are looking for a dedicated and experienced Production Estimator to join their dynamic team.

The Role:

The Production Estimator will play a key role in the estimation process, ensuring that all projects are priced accurately and competitively. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for large-scale residential projects, from initial design through to completion, and will work closely with site managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure cost efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential building projects
  • Assess project scope, drawings, specifications, and schedules to create comprehensive estimates
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and suppliers to review plans and make cost-effective recommendations
  • Analyze costs and prepare detailed reports on material, labor, and subcontractor expenses
  • Maintain and update a database of pricing for materials, labor rates, and subcontractor quotes
  • Identify potential risks and advise on cost-saving measures without compromising quality
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while ensuring timelines and budgets are met
  • Assist in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best pricing and terms
  • Provide support to the procurement and purchasing teams to ensure smooth project execution

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Production Estimator within the residential construction industry (volume home building experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of building materials, labor rates, and construction processes
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Databuild and MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude with a strong focus on delivering results
  • Tertiary qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field are highly regarded
