Job DescriptionYour New Role
We are looking for a dynamic Financial Controller who will champion a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, guiding the development of robust financial structures, policies, and processes that enable our people to excel and stay ahead of regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will provide strategic leadership to a high-performing finance team, ensuring that accurate, timely, and compliant financial services underpin our delivery of impactful projects across the state.
Core Accountabilities:
- Manage the annual financial year-end close, including audits, statutory account preparation, and coordination of the Annual Report.
- Oversee Transactional Services and Payroll functions to ensure consistent, timely, and helpful service in payroll, payments, vendor creation, debtor management, and reporting.
- Establish and maintain best-practice accounting services, ensuring accuracy and compliance in General Ledger inputs/outputs and financial reporting.
- Oversee debt and treasury management, ensuring policy compliance, risk management, and timely information for optimal decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant statutory obligations (e.g., BAS, FBT, TPAR) and maintain up-to-date accounting policies and procedures.
- Design and uphold an effective internal control environment to mitigate financial and fraud risks.
- Prepare and contribute to Board and Audit and Risk Committee papers on financial, audit, and compliance matters.
- Act as a senior leader within the Enterprise Finance team to drive efficient financial processes, system functionality, and proactive risk mitigation.
- Lead ongoing improvements and strategies to enhance financial systems used by the Financial Operations and cross-functional teams.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce (or equivalent) with CA/CPA qualification
- Proven ability to drive financial performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial insights
- Familiarity with Victorian Government financial compliance requirements (desirable)
- Strong proficiency in using financial systems and tools for reporting and management
- Advanced communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams
- Expert business acumen to steer financial and commercial outcomes
- Exceptional planning capabilities to meet organisational priorities and deadlines
- Results-driven, proactive leader able to motivate and mentor teams while driving accountability
- Proven success in building cross-functional partnerships and influencing positive change
