The Role:
This newly created Chief Financial Officer role is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking business during a pivotal time of expansion. Reporting directly to the owners, you’ll manage the entire finance function, driving performance, shaping strategy, and leading financial operations across two business units.
You’ll be more than a numbers person - you’ll be a trusted partner to the leadership team, bringing clarity, structure, and insight to support smarter decisions and sustainable growth.
Experience in the transport industry will be highly regarded but not essential.
We’re seeking a CFO who is commercially sharp, process-driven, and ready to elevate finance into a true strategic asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead all finance operations across the business units
- Balance and optimise team workloads while nurturing a high-performance finance culture
- Take final sign-off responsibility for financial reporting, BAS, FBT, and payroll tax submissions
- Guide and drive financial strategy and planning to align with broader business objectives
- Lead the month-end process and ensure accurate, timely reporting and liability payments
- Own financial systems (e.g., Netsuite, MYOB), ensuring efficiency and accuracy
- Deliver strategic financial insights to leadership to improve commercial outcomes
- Ensure full compliance with awards, allowances, and tax and legislative standards
- Actively participate in business strategy sessions and improvement initiatives
- Oversee tenders, contracts, and rate reviews in collaboration with senior stakeholders
- Present clear, impactful financial reports to owners and senior leadership
- Lead the annual budgeting process and manage cash flow effectively
- Strengthen internal controls, risk management, and compliance
- Liaise with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies
You will have:
- CA/CPA qualified with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a senior finance role (minimum 5 years) — ideally as a Finance Manager, Head of Finance, or CFO
- Experience overseeing full-function finance and leading high-performing teams
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance, BAS, payroll tax, and relevant legislation
- Technically savvy with experience in financial systems such as Netsuite or MYOB
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence in financial modelling and reporting
- Commercially astute, analytical, and solutions-oriented
- A natural communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Passion for continuous improvement and adding value beyond the numbers
