Job Description

About The Role

As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Clinic Nurse is expected to personally contribute to the shaping and achievement of ATSICHS vision and goals within their own scope. They will conduct frontline nursing duties as per the IUIH Model of Care. It is the role of the Clinic Nurse to contribute, where possible, to ATSICHS comprehensive health support services to clients with the aim to achieve improved health outcomes for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Clinic Nurse will provide education to ATSICHS clients with regards to their care and promote opportunities for improved health outcomes. They will also, support fellow staff in a team environment to build collegiality and a sense of belongingness within the team and ATSICHS family. Staff will actively participate in team activities and contribute to a flourishing workplace culture that promotes the ethos and values of ATSICHS Brisbane as a long standing Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.

Duties

  • Provide quality nursing practice within an Aboriginal primary health care model of service by assisting the medical/primary health care team and effectively planned coordinate own and team’s workload to achieve results.
  • Understanding of the principles of primary health care and the ability to work with a wide variety of professionals and the public.
  • Commit to a high level of quality management for ATSICHS through use of LogiQC quality management systems.
  • Effective communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal to ensure quality medical documentation.
  • Demonstrated clinic experience and the ability to implement and support a comprehensive model of chronic disease care with a view to achieve better outcomes for clients.
  • Competence in the use of clinical software systems and other technology, the internet and desktop applications e.g. outlook, Mmex, LogiQC, word, spreadsheets and telehealth software.
  • Operate within clinical policy and procedures at all times.
  • Commit to ongoing continuous quality improvement processes with annual reviews into the efficiency of clinical service provision.
  • Cultivate productive working relationships at all levels, which support the nurturing of internal and external relationships, facilitates cooperation, trust and respect, values differences and diversity and guides, mentors and focuses on the development of staff.

Benefits

  • Base salary $86,858 to $90,886 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience).
  • Additional 11.5% superannuation and access to salary packaging.

Desired Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in nursing or higher.
  • Full un-restricted AHPRA registration.
  • Previous demonstrable experience in relevant nursing field.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet targets and performance outcomes.
  • Ability to support a continuous improvement model for achieving outcomes.
  • Decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills.

Preferred:

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in a primary health setting.
  • Previous experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Immunisation endorsement and experience
  • Previous experience in a multidisciplinary health team.
  • Previous experience in chronic disease management.
