This rare and exciting opportunity with RFDS South Australia and Northern Territory (SA/NT) has become available due to the retirement of the current Executive General Manager, Aviation.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Executive General Manager, Aviation is responsible for the successful operation of the RFDS Aviation components such as Flight Operations, Airworthiness, Engineering and Aviation Safety. This role can be based in Darwin, Alice Springs, or Adelaide, with requirement to travel as needed.
Key responsibilities will include :-
- Ensuring the safe and secure operation of RFDS Aviation and Engineering Operations in accordance with the Safety Management System and compliance with relevant regulations;
- Leading efforts to evaluate and integrate sustainable aviation solutions whilst exploring emerging technologies in aviation and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation;
- Engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders in order to build and maintain relationships and appropriate communication channels, including the Board and the CE on behalf of the aviation department;
- Collaborating with the Finance team to effectively develop and manage operational budgets;
- Improving service quality, standardisation and compliance with stringent air safety and transport operational requirements.
The RFDS SA/NT is seeking a dynamic and innovative Aviation Operations professional with strong industry knowledge and proven experience in a similar role. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and leadership skills, particularly in leading cross functional teams to achieve positive outcomes, as well as in building and maintaining productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. This role requires strong financial management experience including managing budgets and cost control. Experience with Industrial Relations and Enterprise Agreement negotiations are desirable. Candidates with experience in emergency service and qualifications in Aviation, Engineering or Management are essential for this role.
