- Part-time (0.9FTE), two (2) year fixed term contracts based in the Centre for Cancer Biology at the City West campus and the Basil Hetzel Institute for Translational Health Research
- Salary Range: $80,099 - $107,422 pro rata, per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
About the Role
This Research Assistant will contribute to grant-funded research under the broad direction of the Research Professor in Matrix Biology and Head: Tumour Microenvironment Laboratory in order to achieve defined objectives and test stated hypotheses. The project involves mechanistic investigations into interactions between tumour cells and their microenvironments.

The Centre for Cancer Biology (CCB) is an alliance between the University of South Australia and CALHN and is co-located with other cancer-focussed researchers within a purpose-built building in Adelaide’s Biotech and Medical Precinct. The CCB studies the fundamental causes of cancer to find new ways to prevent and treat the disease and is a recognised hub for innovative science leading to breakthrough therapies.
Core Responsibilities
- Contribute to planning of research by participating in planning sessions, offering new ideas on research directions, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information and attending seminars and meetings
Essential Skills and Experience
An Honours degree or equivalent in biology, or related discipline Experience in/with primary cell and tumouroid culture, in vivo models of cancer including orthotopic models of colorectal cancer, and standard molecular and protein biology techniques Recent experience with antibody characterisation, including knock-down validation and immunohistochemical analysis Experience with standard laboratory histology processes, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining and image analysis approaches Demonstrated participation in relevant areas of research and knowledge of literature involved in, and laboratory procedures relevant to, the research projectBenefits
