The Redress Request for Information Unit is part of the Right to Information, Information Privacy, Records Management and Redress Branch and coordinates all Queensland Government responses to Requests for Information from the National Redress Scheme Operator.The National Redress Scheme is for people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse.
The Unit processes Requests for Information under the National Redress Scheme for the purpose of National Redress Scheme assessment of claims.
The team is comprised of administrative staff who perform data entry, records management and external agency liaison functions; and researchers, who consider departmental file material, extract relevant information and compile responses to Requests for Information.
- Examine and research departmental records for information relevant to Request for Information responses;
- Extract information relevant to the Request for Information and prepare the response;
- Receive and consider external agency responses to consolidate responses;
- Contribute to improvements to business systems and processes to ensure consistency, quality and timeliness of responses to Requests for Information;
- Maintain a strong knowledge of historical and contemporary child protection, youth justice and disability systems and institutional settings.
