Narrogin Cottage Homes is one of the largest providers of residential and community housing services in the Southern Wheatbelt.
We are currently seeking an individual to join the team in a Lifestyle Coordinator/Occupational Assistant Combination role, which is available as a full time, part time, or casual position.
About the Role
This role focuses on assisting the occupational therapist in delivering tailored therapy programs and interventions, and organising and implementing activities, events, and outings to promote residents' physical, social, and emotional well-being.
This role mainly focuses on completing individual or small group therapy sessions as directed by the occupational therapist, however, it will involve running larger group sessions to cover for when other OTAs/lifestyle coordinators on the team are on leave.
Responsibilities :
- Administering individualised treatment plans and delivering group therapy sessions to maximise physical, social, and emotional well-being, and quality of life, as guided by the occupational therapist.
- Organise opportunities for individuals to maintain their connection with the community e.g., special guest speakers and performers, outings to the community.
- Assist in information gathering and assessments with the occupational therapist e.g., life story, interests, and sensory assessments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation.
- Stay informed about the latest research, best practices, and regulatory changes.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written (including computer literacy).
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote holistic care.
- Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of residents, to get to know these residents in order to understand their needs, and tailor therapy so that it is individualised.
- Understanding of the use strengths-based approaches to foster confidence and engagement with residents.
- Ability to plan and organise activities, including organising opportunities for community engagement.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work effectively unsupervised.
- Stay informed about the latest research, best practices, and regulatory changes.
- Relevant qualification (e.g., Cert IV in Allied Health Assistance or Cert IV in Leisure and Health) or be willing to work towards this.
- Experience with working with people with dementia or be willing to complete further dementia care training.
- Police Check/Clearance not older than 3 months (or willingness to obtain one)
- Current flu vaccination and willingness to keep flu vaccination up to date every year
- Current Australian driver's licence (unrestricted class as bus is manual drive)
- At least 12 months' previous experience working in Aged Care in a lifestyle coordinator role or occupational therapy assistant role.
