The Strategic Account Executive (Enterprise) is responsible for the strategic relationship between Microsoft and a leading Enterprise Commercial (Strategic Account) customer. The role aims to maximise the value of our customers’ Microsoft investments so they can empower their team members, engage their customers and deliver an outstanding experience and maximise operations and provide actionable business insights to serve and support the customers’ mission.

The Strategic Account Executive plays a pivotal role in customer transformation through strong partnership, this is an executive role that orchestrates and leads across Microsoft teams in Australia, regionally and globally, and across Microsoft’s partner ecosystem.

The Microsoft Strategic Account Executive is a trusted advisor who leads with deep connection to Microsoft’s mission and values, and deep conviction to enable customer outcomes and impact and value in the Australian community. This approach enables true strategic partnerships that are sustainable and deliver positive impact to both Microsoft and to our customer.

Strategic Account Executive:

  • Develops and leads high performing team across Microsoft, and our partner ecosystem and has a strong reputation for sales excellence and accountability
  • See the ‘big picture’ and proactively and comfortably engages with the CEO and C-Suite on their business goals
  • Has a passion for working in technology-led business transformation
  • Has a strong knowledge of the Retail and Consumer Goods industry and future industry trends
  • Is customer obsessed and has a deep desire to work creatively and innovating to drive genuine industry and societal breakthroughs
  • Articulates complex problems and solutions with clarity
  • Is experienced in working with a globally distributed customer and global colleagues with an engagement style that seeks to understand and embrace geographical and cultural differences

Business Relationship Owner :

The Strategic AE is responsible for leading one MSFT team to define the strategic vision and leading the transformation with the customer’s CxO level Technology, Digital and Business Decision Makers. This requires leadership skills, leading with empathy and understanding, and the ability to challenge conventional thinking.

Team Mobiliser and Orchestrator :

The Strategic AE leads an extensive and large Microsoft and Partner eco-system to develop and implement the Strategic Account Plan. A proven leader, the Strategic AE creates clarity for team members both individually and as a collective, with a balance of empowerment and support for them to be successful.

Sales Leader and Operational Excellence :

The Strategic AE achieves results by understanding digital and AI transformation drivers and customer priorities, identifying new opportunities, and helping customers accelerate their move to the era of AI and the digital age for their own benefit as well as their customers and stakeholders. The successful candidate demonstrates Operational Excellence through delivering consistent, repeatable achievement of revenue and consumption targets.

Sales Challenger :

A ‘learn it all’ the Strategic AE continuously builds out industry and technical knowledge, brings innovative industry solutions, benchmarks and curated and appropriate references to C-level executives that enable success and drive greater efficiencies, optimisation and increase customer satisfaction.

Strong Communicator : The successful candidate articulates complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical, and impactful manner and communicates with influence to senior stakeholders in Microsoft and Customers and Partners.

Strategic Thinker : The Strategic AE is focussed on the ‘bigger picture’ for Microsoft’s customers, has an insatiable curiosity and can quickly absorb information, and is highly conceptual and creative in problem-solving excellence.

Inclusive Leader : With strong interpersonal skills, the Strategic AE creates an inclusive culture within and across teams that embraces diversity and reflects Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and organisation on the planet to achieve more. The Strategic AE can easily establish trust-based relationships and gain valuable insights through collaboration and communication with the customer, colleagues, and partners.


Required/minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technology, or a related field AND 5+ years of experience working in an industry (e.g., Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Energy, Government, Education), driving digital transformation, or other relevant work experience (e.g., consulting, technology)

OR

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration AND 4+ years of experience working in an industry (e.g., Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Energy, Government, Education), driving digital transformation, or other relevant work experience (e.g., consulting, technology)

OR

  • 7+ years of experience working in an industry (e.g., Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Energy, Government, Education), driving digital transformation, or other relevant work experience (e.g., consulting, technology) OR equivalent experience.
