Please note that Forensic Science Queensland has recently been through a Machinery of Government change, and as of 1 July 2024, was administratively assigned to the Department of Justice.

Seeking an experienced Forensic Biology professional to offer specialist scientific advice, manage projects, and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to drive improvements in forensic biology practices. This role would be ideal for an experienced forensic biologist with a strong project management background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on forensic biology, policy, research, and accreditation.
  • Lead and manage scientific projects, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct research, analyse complex information, and prepare reports and briefings.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 17025 accreditation and quality systems.
  • Support change management initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Review and advise on laboratory processes, SOPs, and training materials.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in forensic biology or related field is mandatory.
  • Extensive operational experience in a forensic biology laboratory.
  • Experience in project management and/or change management is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of forensic biology methods, ISO 17025 accreditation, and quality systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
