We are looking for an experienced project officer to take up this exciting opportunity to join the Statewide Initiatives (SWI) team.

Being part of this team provides a unique opportunity to work across central office and the regions to support the implementation of place- focussed, contextualised strategies and programs that deliver real outcomes for children, families and the early childhood workforce.

This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis.

About The Department Of Education

Statewide Initiatives operates within the Early Childhood Division of the Department of Education (DoE) and aligns strongly to the commitment to give all children a great start, engage young people in learning, create safe and inclusive workplaces and invest in communities for a stronger Queensland. The Early Childhood Division uses its regulatory framework, funding and policy levers to ensure Queensland children are engaged in safe, quality early years programs to support learning and development and strengthen successful transitions to school. There is overwhelming evidence that recognises investment in the early years has long term economic and social benefits. We also know that positive early childhood experiences, including attending kindergarten, is a strong protective factor for children. The SWI team contributes to this important work by ensuring decision makers have a comprehensive understanding of program implementation, and working closely with business partners to inform new and renewed investment in early childhood programs and infrastructure across the state.

About The Role

In the Brisbane based role of Senior Project Officer, SWI you will work with a central team and regional partners to optimise the delivery of statewide projects and programs.

The effective coordination of key operational activities and resources associated with project management of multiple projects will require you to access or draw upon content expertise, demonstrate systematic project and people leadership, collate regional data oversights and support the design, construction and maintenance processes associated with infrastructure lifecycle processes.

Some Of Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • project managing multiple SWI projects and being responsible for the project outcomes.
  • using your technical knowledge, expertise and leadership to coordinate all relevant activities to ensure successful delivery of projects within time, quality, budget and other project targets.
  • coordinating statewide project teams, materials, resources and suppliers to ensure all members are appropriately skilled and utilised, and to ensure deliverables, time and budgetary requirements are met.
  • project managing to resolve complex issues to improve overall project performance.
  • preparing and delivering submissions and reports relating to project issues, and identify appropriate mitigation strategies to overcome problems or obstacles related to the project/s.
  • identifying and engaging the necessary internal and external expertise to deliver project requirements.
  • developing and facilitating project plans to ensure their effective and efficient delivery as part of managing the operational aspects of projects. It is essential that you identify and liaise with stakeholders and manage their expectations.
  • coordinating resource allocation for your projects.
  • Encouraging effective teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward organisational objectives.
