Able Futures has been providing disability support and accommodation to people in the Newcastle and the Central Coast region since 2016. Our business is expanding. In addition to growing our Supported Independent Living division, we are also reinvigorating our existing community, in home supports and day programs.
To meet this growth, we are currently seeking experienced and passionate Support Workers to fill a number of Part-time positions within our team & work alongside our participants to help them live their lives to their full potential. We have positions available in both our Central Coast sites as well as our Hunter Region (Maitland/Rutherford).
We operate on a 24/7 roster and we require all our support workers to be freely available to work many shifts throughout the week, including sleepovers and active nights.
It is essential that you have or are willing to obtain:
- Current First Aid Certificate
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Experience working with people with a disability, particularly mental health and behaviours of concern
- Excellent communication skills & and interpersonal skills
- Sound written skills with a demonstrated ability to write clear and concise care and support notes and mandatory forms
- Knowledge of person-centered practice and approach.
- Ability to interpret and apply Behaviour Support Plan instructions
- Able to handle difficult situations with confidence and resilience
- Ability to work across a 7-day roster which includes weekends & sleepovers
- Qualifications in Disability or Individual Support or a commitment to commence studies during the probation period (Cert III in Disability or Cert III in Individual Support), or willingness to undertake studies during employment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
