For over 30 years, ConnectAbility Australia has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by connecting them to meaningful communities, resources, and services. Founded by passionate community members in Newcastle in 1992, we’ve grown into a leading not-for-profit service provider throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Hunter Region, and the Central Coast.
In 2023, we proudly merged with Early Links, specialists in allied health and early intervention teaching who support over 1,400 children and youth.
Together, we support almost 1,800 individuals of all ages, empowering them to achieve their goals and dreams.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Youth Engagement Worker to join our team and support young people with disabilities in community/centre-based Youth Programs and School Holiday programs, life skills through capacity building at home or in the community. In this role, you will mentor and engage children and adolescents, helping them build confidence, develop new skills, and participate in meaningful programs and activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and participate in activities that align with clients’ interests and abilities
- Encourage and support young people to develop new competencies.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and other service provider stakeholders involved in their support network.
- Complete progress notes, document incidents and relevant reports.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients, reporting any child protection or WHS concerns.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.
About You
- Relevant qualification or experience in youth work, disability support, education or a related field.
- A passion for working with young people and supporting their development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of a person-centred approach.
- Commitment to ConnectAbility’s mission and values.
Essential Requirements:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working with Children Check (paid employment).
- NDIS Worker Orientation module completion certificate.
- Current driver’s licence.
- First Aid & CPR certification.
