The role
As GIS Technician you will work as part of team with other spatial engineers to coordinate the schedule of acquisition and processing workflows of LIDAR and imagery captured through our drone acquisition program whilst establishing and maintaining imagery and associated metadata within a spatial data management platform
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing of LIDAR and imagery from UAV and other sources, including associated ingestion workflows
- Scheduling and communication with internal staff and external acquisition contractors
- Maintaining a good working relationship with Climate Friendly business units to ensure delivery schedules are understood and priorities communicated.
- Conducting technical QC processes on incoming data
- Provide basic technical support to non-GIS internal customers and users.
- Managing storage and archiving processes as required
Salary for this opportunity is $74,064 plus superannuation.
About you
- Graduate of Spatial or Environmental Science with project experience in GIS or spatial engineering role.
- Good working knowledge of LIDAR and Drone Imagery data acquisition processes and products
- Good working knowledge of a range of spatial information systems and analytical tools (including QGIS as a minimum) and ability to expand knowledge rapidly.
- Exposure to PostGIS for implementing queries in spatial SQL
- Demonstrated ability to use scripting for automated workflow(s) e.g., R, Python, FME
- Highly organised with the ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to work in a small team and contribute to group problem solving
- Ability to communicate complex technical products to non-technical audiences, both internal and external.
