Your EmployerOur client, a well-established agribusiness in Emerald, QLD, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their farm operations team. This full-time role is responsible for maintaining and servicing a variety of diesel-powered equipment, including tractors, earthmoving equipment, harvesting machinery, irrigation pumps, and heavy vehicles.
Your Role
As a Diesel Mechanic , you will play a key role in ensuring all farm machinery remains in optimal working condition. This includes conducting scheduled servicing, diagnosing faults, and performing necessary repairs to minimize equipment downtime and support smooth farm operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on tractors, earthmoving equipment, harvesting machinery, irrigation pumps, and other farm vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring equipment is promptly repaired and returned to service.
- Perform engine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
- Maintain accurate records of servicing schedules and mechanical repairs.
- Work closely with farm management to ensure machinery is available and operational for daily farm activities.
- Manage spare parts inventory, ordering and restocking as needed.
- Ensure adherence to workplace health and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
- Assist with any additional tasks as directed by the Farm Operations Manager.
- Qualifications: Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or an equivalent certification.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in an agricultural or rural setting.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, and farm machinery operations.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a productive team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with farm staff and external service providers.
- A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and repair planning.
- Annual salary: $73,150 – $80,000 plus overtime and superannuation.
