About the Role
Swinburne University is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team and ensure the effective operation of our Building Management Systems (BMS) and Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
As a BMS and HVAC Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the University's BMS and HVAC systems. You will provide expert knowledge, guidance, and support to ensure the safe and timely completion of planned and reactive maintenance, as well as the renewal of these systems. Your responsibilities will include:
Technical Leadership: Update design standards, recommend upgrades, and oversee asset life-cycle replacements. Maintenance and Renewal: Plan and execute maintenance works, provide technical advice, and collaborate with contractors. Sustainability Initiatives: Implement energy efficiency strategies to reduce carbon emissions and improve thermal comfort. Organizational Improvements: Monitor operations, engage in technical training, and lead change management. Compliance and Safety: Ensure safety standards, respond to emergencies, and maintain regulatory compliance.To be successful in this role you will have recent experience working as a BMS and/or HVAC Specialist (such as trade-qualified Refrigeration Mechanic or tertiary qualification in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical), with excellent BMS and controls background where you can demonstrate successful delivery of multiple projects throughout your career.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Deep understanding of HVAC and BMS principles and their application to the maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC and refrigeration equipment, systems, and devices. Extensive operational and supervisory experience in a large multi-faceted organisation, with proven ability in facility maintenance services supervising human and physical resources Working knowledge of current OHS, building, essential services and related regulations Ability to provide clear and concise technical advice to project stakeholders (internal and external) Knowledge of complex/smart buildings, automated building management systems, fire panels and work request systems Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills including report writingQualifications
A degree or trade qualification with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise in Mechanical Engineering Maintenance or related subject; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Experience or certification with complex HVAC and other systems Relevant certifications or licenses in HVAC (preferable) EWP licenses (preferable) A current Victorian driver’s license (preferable)About Swinburne University of Technology
