The Opportunity

Reporting to the Survey Engineering Manager, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Workshop Survey Engineer to join our established Australian Operations.

Your duties and responsibility will include, but not be limited to:

  • Workshop preparation, testing and maintenance of survey equipment;
  • Installation and interfacing equipment for smooth project operation;
    • vessel and subsea positioning equipment,
    • hydrographic and marine geophysics survey equipment,
    • computers and local area networks,
    • communications systems;
  • Installation, configuration and operation of hydrographic and marine geophysics survey software packages (training provided);
  • Occasional short-term trips away for vessel mobilisations and demobilisations (less than once a month for 1 to 3 day duration);
  • Database management and maintenance of accurate logs and records;
  • Fault-finding and repairs to field-serviceable equipment.

Based out of Fugro’s state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary Balcatta workshop, you will work with and learn from a collaborative team of experts to deliver on a variety of projects, that include:

  • Positioning and construction support
  • Geophysical surveys
  • Hydrographic surveys
  • Inspection and maintenance
  • Geotechnical surveys

About You

Your commitment to project delivery and working collaboratively in a team will be foundational to being successful in this role. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Qualification in Electronics and/or other relevant qualification;
  • Previous experience in a similar role with electronic fault diagnostics and repairs;
  • Overall technical aptitude, with the ability to solve problems;
  • Hold (or able to complete) an OGUK offshore medical certificate, Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training course;

Additional things we value:

  • Computer literacy (intermediate to advanced) would be an advantage;
  • A thorough understanding of the basics of marine acoustics, geophysics, positioning and general marine operations would be an advantage;
  • Willingness to work offshore for periods of time.
