Overview

Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will assist with the delivery of high quality person-centred care to residents of the Millicent Residential Aged Care facility. Maintaining cooperative and productive working relationships with all members of the aged care team, you will implement appropriate nursing care and assist with general and specialised procedures from residents’ care plans. Working with older people and people with dementia where there are multiple complexities and diverse cultural backgrounds, you will be capable of recognising and responding to clinical deterioration or other incidents and escalating appropriately. You will provide verbal and documented information within your scope of practice to residents, other team members and members of the public, and contribute to your professional expertise by maintaining ongoing personal professional development and continuing education through a portfolio of post-enrolment learning.

Sheoak Lodge is situated in a quiet residential area on Towers Road, Millicent and is co-located with Millicent and District Hospital and Health Service ensuring ready access to medical care. It is located close to the towns shopping and recreational facilities. Millicent is a quiet country town in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, approximately 399 kilometres Limestone Coast of Adelaide and 50 kilometres north of Mount Gambier on the Riddoch Highway with its main source of income coming from agriculture and a number of large industrial companies including Kimberley Clark Australia.

About You

You will be enrolled or eligible for enrolment as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With knowledge and skill in assessment, care and routine procedures for residential aged care, you will be capable of providing person-centred care in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice. Your effective verbal and written communication skills will enable you to work well within a multidisciplinary team environment.
