About the Role

As an Investigator within the Levies team, you will conduct compliance and education activities to assist levy payers in the building and construction industry to meet their legislative obligations.

Reporting to the Supervisor Levies, your role will involve:

  • using your understanding and experience in investigation activities to ensure all applicable building and construction projects are correctly notified and the applicable levy paid.
  • providing education to levy payers regarding the operation of the building and construction industry portable long service leave scheme to increase compliance and levy collection.
  • reviewing and interpreting project accounting information to ascertain the correct levy for building and construction projects.
  • using your auditing and analytical skills to gather evidence and enforce the payment of levies.
  • preparing briefs and correspondence to support legal undertakings on matters relating to non-compliance.
  • gathering industry data, identifying trends and reporting on compliance issues, investigations and outcomes.
  • maintaining registers and record management systems as well as timely notetaking to ensure information is current and accurate.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a highly skilled Investigator with:

  • effective auditing, analytical skills, and financial literacy to undertake audits and investigations into the building and construction industry to ensure compliance.
  • the knowledge of or ability to learn how to interpret and apply legislation, as well as undertake compliance enforcement activities, such as issuing statutory notices, preparing briefs of evidence and making evidence-based decisions.
  • highly developed communication skills with internal and external stakeholders to ensure awareness of their obligations.
  • strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare reports and correspondence.
  • the ability to work autonomously and also within a team.
  • strong time management skills.

While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, practical experience in conducting audits and/or investigations in the building and construction and related sectors will be highly regarded. Possession of a ‘C' class licence and the ability to travel throughout Queensland is desirable.
