What you’ll contribute to
The Product Planning & Development Division is responsible for the Planning, Styling, Development, Evaluation and Regulation compliance of vehicles and Genuine Accessories. We design, develop and deliver unique global contributions towards ever better products so that we maximise the positive experience for our customers. We have a unique opportunity to influence the transition to an innovative mobility company, ensuring we leave no-one behind.
The Development Electrical Engineer is primarily responsible for overseeing the development Genuine Accessories. The role encompasses scoping, collaborative design with a supplier, evaluating and approving products that meet Toyota Standard criteria, cost targets and timing in order to exceed customer expectations.
This role is a 2 year Max term role based in Altona North
How you’ll make an impact

Establish development schedules, monitors progress, and implements countermeasures to meet key milestones and design approval targets.

Lead technical feasibility studies, prepares technical requirements and project scope, collaborates on design reviews, and ensures approval documentation for tooling kick-off and final approval.

Coordinate and complete parts fitment trials, collaborates with suppliers and evaluation teams to create reports, and implements necessary countermeasures based on findings.

Support cost estimation during project scoping, reviews supplier quotations, and actively manages project costs to align with targets.

Participate in project status meetings, communicates CAD requirements to suppliers, and provides ongoing support to ensure timely development and evaluation.

Identify root causes of issues, implements countermeasures, and supports supplier selection and management to maintain quality and cost efficiency.

Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with eligibility for National Engineers Registration (NER), existing registration preferred.

5+ years of accumulated engineering development experience, with project management expertise.

Proficient in CAD, ideally CATIA, and experienced in engineering documents/drawings (EWD).

Strong understanding of wiring harness routing and the impacts of FH concepts.

In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with vehicle automotive electrical systems highly desirable
-
Demonstrated ability in methodical problem solving, attention to detail, leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation.
