The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin’s water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.
The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. The Position
Are you ready to make a real impact? Our Finance and Business Operations branch, within the Business Services Division, is at the heart of supporting the MDBA through high quality financial services. Our mission is to provide crucial advice and reporting that enhances our organisational culture, all while supporting our purpose – ‘Rivers, For Generations’.
Role
We are seeking passionate and driven finance and accounting professionals to join us in multiple roles at the EL1 level. If you have experience in any of the below areas, we want to hear from you:

Your Key Responsibilities In This Role Are To
Be responsible for the maintenance of general and sub-ledger reconciliations. Ensuring financial accounting transactions are processed in line with relevant policies and accounting standards.Prepare accounting position papers in line with accounting standards. Manage the completion of end-of-year and interim financial statements (special purpose and general purpose). Managing audit requests with internal and external auditors. Review and update financial control systems and processes in accordance with relevant policies. Engage with internal stakeholders to understand their business concerns, challenges and drivers and provide financial analysis to assist in their decision making while maturing business acumen. Gather data and provide high level specialist technical/professional advice to assist with complex problem solving and issues management. Support business areas in a range of financial management activities including budget management, the production of monthly management reports and financial analysis. Successfully administer and maintain a financial management information system and other financial systems, ensuring the integrity, availability and capability of systems and data. Receive, log, resolve and review complex financial and financial systems enquiries and requests for support in a timely and accurate manner by following agreed procedures. Provide guidance, support and advice to team members including the provision of on-the-job training and reviewing and checking work outputs.
