Postdoctoral Fellow - Hogan Laboratory

  • 12-months Fixed term, Full-Time
  • Onsite presence essential at 305 Grattan Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000
  • $97,770.40 to $113,262.24 AUD (depending on qualifications and experience)

The Hogan laboratory is offering an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow to join our group at Peter Mac. The position requires a highly motivated and skilled scientist to work in the area of lymphatic development and regeneration. The position will involve performing experiments in model systems (zebrafish, mice, cells), analysis of results, preparation of manuscripts and presentation of data at national and international meetings. The incumbent will be required to undertake direct supervision of students. Importantly, the successful candidate will be capable of working in an independent manner. They may assist and supervise junior staff in the team with grant/fellowship applications; manuscript and thesis preparation.

This position is responsible for:

  • Carrying out experiments that fulfil the aims of the project.
  • Accurate analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Participation and presentation of results in lab meetings and other hubs.
  • Development of good working relationships with others both within the laboratory and within the research division.

The successful applicant will be part of a team studying the molecular control of the vasculature in development, regeneration and cancer. Skills required include a PhD with a broad base of molecular, genetic and cell biology techniques. The person should have a strong background in one or more of the following: developmental biology, cell biology, cancer biology, zebrafish, molecular biology, genomics or microscopy. A record of previous publication of scientific papers will be highly advantageous. The person will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team and supervise students and technical staff in the lab. Recent PhD graduates through to experienced senior research fellows are encouraged to apply for this position.
