About the Lead General Practitioner role

Step into an exciting new leadership role as a Lead General Practitioner, where you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of primary care delivery. Lead a diverse, community-focused team of GPs, drive continuous improvement, and ensure services are safe, effective, and patient-centred. This is a unique chance to influence healthcare direction and make a lasting impact on patient care.

This ongoing part-time position (0.6 FTE, 22.8 hours per week) offers a dynamic opportunity to take on a key leadership role. Reporting to the Manager, Medical Services, you’ll oversee clinical governance, drive workforce development, and collaborate with various teams to enhance the quality, accessibility, and range of services provided at YourCH.

Your Passion and Commitment will see you:

  • Lead and supervise a diverse team of GPs to ensure clinical excellence
  • Foster collaboration and promote a patient-centred culture across the team
  • Oversee workforce development and clinical governance, ensuring services meet high safety and accreditation standards
  • Address clinical practice or compliance issues, ensuring alignment with medical standards
  • Integrate GP services with broader healthcare offerings to improve patient care and outcomes

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Vocational recognition (Fellowship with RACGP or equivalent) and AHPRA registration
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in GP clinics
  • A strong interest and intention to become a Primary Supervisor under the RACGP Fellowship Support Program and assist with AGPT & FSP accreditation
  • Proven leadership in primary care, with excellent communication, mentoring, and change-management skills
  • A commitment to continuous quality improvement and health promotion
