ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Cyber Security Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of the overall cybersecurity strategy, framework and procedures to ensure that AFL’s IT infrastructure and systems are effectively protected against cybersecurity threats.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the Cybersecurity initiative across the AFL including creating and driving the cyber security roadmap
  • In collaboration with the risk and infrastructure teams, create a robust security risk framework, along with policies, procedures, guidelines and standards to integrate into the overall IT security Roadmap. This also includes supporting the development of the business continuity plan (BCP)
  • Review, enhance and maintain the disaster recovery plan to align with the BCP. Ensure annual testing in collaboration with the infrastructure lead, publish test results and make necessary adjustments to address any deficiencies
  • Identify and implement key security initiatives and programs using a risk-based approach and recommend appropriate enhancements to strengthen overall information security performance
  • Oversee comprehensive risk management for cybersecurity and ensure the AFL is proactively mitigating potential risks
  • Ensure all current cyber security processes and documentation are regularly updated
  • Ensure AFL Information assets are properly protected to maintain their confidentiality, availability and integrity
  • Oversee the maintenance of all IT security tools and technologies
  • Offer expert cyber security guidance to the tech team and the broader business to ensure effective implementation of cybersecurity measures
  • Plan and lead the technical response for cybersecurity incidents across the AFL, while assessing the effectiveness of the current incident response plan against industry best practices. This may require at times an adaptable approach to working hours
  • Engage with key stakeholders (both internal and external) to raise awareness of cyber risks
  • Work closely with the clubs to provide overall cybersecurity support and advice as needed
  • Proactively engage and work with third party cyber vendors to ensure the AFL’s information assets are properly safeguarded, this includes but is not limited to annual pen testing
  • Keep abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, risk, threats, emerging technologies, and standards to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role leading an organisation’s cyber security effort
  • Strong technical knowledge of security principles including legislative and industry practices
  • Sound knowledge of all areas of IT infrastructure
  • Able to effectively manage both direct and indirect team members including prioritising tasks to consistently achieve objectives.
  • Strong relationship/stakeholder management and communication skills across all levels of the organisation
  • Exceptional customer focus

Mandatory:

  • 5 years’ Cybersecurity management
  • 8 years’ IT infrastructure technical experience
  • Degree or Masters in Cybersecurity
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate direct and indirect team members, as well as effectively working with senior leaders
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Desired:

  • At least one of the latest IT security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, SANS etc
  • People Management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field
