The Governors of The National Maternity Hospital, as a Voluntary Hospital, will elect the Master of the Hospital for the statutory period of 7 years effective from 1st January 2026.
As one of the largest maternity hospitals in Europe and recognised as a centre of excellence for maternity, neonatal and gynaecological care. The Hospital provides tertiary referral services for the whole country.
The is a university teaching hospital. Through excellence and innovation in treatment, research and education, we drive the advancement of women and babies’ healthcare in Ireland. It is a Voluntary Hospital with a complement of over 200 beds and over 1000 staff.
The Master as a practicing clinician is also responsible for the overall management of the Hospital including its strategic development, clinical governance and oversight, patient safety and risk management and administrative and financial matters. The appointee will be involved in the Hospital’s proposed move to Elm Park.
The Appointee must have a minimum of 5 years experience at a consultant level and also hold or be able to secure registration as a specialist in the specialist division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and possess the MRCPI in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or the MRCOG or equivalent.
