Key Responsibilities:
GKR Transport are an interstate linehaul transport business specialising in ugly freight. As a Transport Operations Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the State Manager with daily administrative tasks and maintaining the coordination and efficiency of our transport operations.
You will be responsible for ensuring clear and timely communication between supervisors, drivers, and clients, while helping to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
This role will have a strong focus on local PUD truck allocation,ensuring the seamless and efficient assignment of freight, drivers, and vehicles as well as manifesting, onforwarding, and handling of local freight enquiries. You will also provide coverage and support to both administration and operations roles as needed.
To be successful in this role, you must have a solid background in heavy freight and linehaul transport. Experience in managing or coordinating ugly freight is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and manage daily Local PUD freight, truck and driver allocation.
• Accurately manifest trailers before departure
• Ensure drivers receive correct paperwork prior to leaving the depot
• Data entry of customer collections via online systems and phone calls
• Support schedulers with email and phone inquiries
• Prioritise next day deliveries for local trucks
• Organise onforwarding deliveries and bookings with local carriers
• Ensure all driver paperwork is completed accurately and on time
• Perform sweeps of the depot floor to check for any missing freight
• Verify freight on the floor, and ensure all items have the correct paperwork.
• Provide support to other departments when required
• Maintain compliance with company policies and safety procedures
What We’re Looking For:
• At least 2 years administrative experience working in a transport and logistics environment
• Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, clients and fellow staff members
• Familiar with bookings and coordination of transport carriers
• Experience in customer service
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail
• Excellent planning, organisation, and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
