About the role

In a collaborative group based cottage environment and under the guidance of the Respite Leadership team, the Enrolled nurse provides high quality, person centered care to clients living with cognitive and/or physical decline to support healthy ageing.

This role will see you work independently to support respite clients during an active overnight shift. Specifically, as the Enrolled Nurse, you will support clients with Instrumental and Activity of Daily Living needs, meal preparation, mobility and transfer assistance, and cognitive and social support. In addition to this, you will follow the client care plan to ensure all client care needs are met, as well as identifying and reporting early signs of decline, behaviour modification and/or changing care needs.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • providing a person centred, safe and effective respite service in accordance with the clients well-being care plan including support clients with;
    • management of medication, skin integrity and sleep hygiene
    • administration of medication
    • engaging in appropriate activities including providing dining experiences
      that help to facilitate social connection between clients
    • personal care (ADL & IADL’s)
    • behaviour management & communication
  • monitoring and responding to client movement and/or unrest during overnight stays
  • ongoing monitoring and evaluation of activities, service quality and client outcomes
  • matching client competency to scheduled daily tasks and engaging clients in Cottage activity planning
  • working with the Respite team to ensure the respite programs are compliant with
    clinical procedures and work instructions

About you

We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients, and who are passionate about the translation of evidence based practice to the community respite environment.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Diploma of Nursing with current unrestricted AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
  • current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) & Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009)
  • demonstrated experience working as an Enrolled Nurse in a community or residential aged care setting
  • clinical expertise in working with older adults in the community with challenging behaviours and complex needs
  • experience with case management of the holistic needs of clients
  • demonstrated commitment to meeting the needs of both internal and external stakeholders
  • exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills that will foster
    the co-operation and support of others
  • highly developed organisational and time management skills with an ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • experience in the use of community aged care systems and processes such as MyAgedCare, CHSP, ACAT, RAS etc.
  • proficient computer and keyboard skills and the ability to use Google Suite (e.g. Docs, Sheets, Gmail etc.) and various in-house databases
  • Applicants who hold an additional Certification in Dementia Care will be highly regarded
