About the Role
Caval Ridge is located in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people.
At Caval Ridge, the Superintendent Production Processing role is to lead a team of process technicians, supervisors and coordinators in safely operating a Coal Handling & Preparation Plant (CHPP) as well as other adjacent bulk material handling fixed plant. The role has responsibility over occupational safety, process safety and risk management for the site processing facilities as well as managing coal quality and throughput, integrating within the wider BMA supply chain. Management of operating efficiencies with respect to cost and yield is also a key part of the role, with a particular focus on stable operation, efficiency, and process control.
Reporting to the Manager Production Coal, your main responsibilities will be:
- Lead a team of +50 process operators, supervisors, and coordinators
- Manage and improve safety outcomes for the team, ensuring standards are met and operational discipline is maintained for both occupational and process safety
- Utilise the BHP Operating System to engage frontline teams in problem solving, waste reduction and improvement projects
- Manage an operating budget to ensure cost targets are met
- Execute cost, yield and throughput improvement projects as per the site business plan
- Ensure the production teams monitor critical process variables, execute adequate responses to out of specification
- Work with a diverse range of teams (maintenance, engineering, Integrated Operations, etc.) to ensure required business outcomes are achieved
About You
You will have a desire to shape culture, lead a team and improve business processes. Your background in either a similar type of position or environment will see you well placed with the required capability to step into this opportunity. Your ability to communicate is of the upmost importance as well as your relationships skills. It is essential that you demonstrate impeccable safety behaviours and being safety focused is part of your everyday. The role is fly-in fly-out from Brisbane to Moranbah with a 4-3 roster so any successful candidate must be comfortable with the roster and working arrangements.
Skills & Requirements:
- Strong people leadership skills with experience in coaching and developing people from different backgrounds and experience levels
- Strong commitment to safety both occupational and process
- Demonstrated sound analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate and interact with a wide variety of people
- Ability to work within a flexible and dynamic team environment
- A degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy will be highly valued
- Exposure to LEAN management or Shingo principles will be highly valued
- Experience managing an operational budget will be highly valued
