About You The VE Assessment Lead will work closely with the Quality and Compliance team as well as vocational education program teams, including teachers and program leaders, to ensure the development of high-quality vocational assessment tools that meet the requirements of training packages, RMIT policies, compliance standards, quality benchmarks, and timelines. The focus of the role is on uplifting the capability of educators, and the VE Assessment Lead will play a pivotal role in designing innovative assessments, planning, developing, and delivering professional development activities for teachers in program areas of the college. Additionally, the VE Assessment Lead will manage casual assessment writers as needed to meet demand, including inducting and mentoring them to develop their skills. Moreover, the VE Assessment Lead will provide progress reports to the AD Q&C and support the development of tracking and reporting mechanisms for assessments within the Q&C area. Finally, they will report to the Manager of Program Governance, Quality and Compliance To be successful in this position, you’ll have: - Expert knowledge of assessment requirements of Training Package qualifications and accredited courses i.e. vocational education competency-based training, ASQA, and AQF requirements. - Skills and experience in the development of innovative, industry driven and compliant assessment tools applicable to a range of programs or disciplines in a vocational educational setting. - Highly developed skills in vocational assessment design and mapping assessment tools to the training package units of competency I.E. elements, performance criteria, skills, knowledge and assessment conditions and/or range statement and principles of assessment (Reliability, Fairness, Flexibility and Validity) and rules of evidence (Validity, Currency, Sufficiency and Authenticity). - Excellent communication skills and teamwork to influence improvements in assessment compliance and learning and teaching outcomes. - Outstanding interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with staff across all levels from a coaching and development perspective. - Capacity to work both independently and in multi-disciplinary team environments. - Ability to assess priorities, exercise discretionary judgment and negotiate for positive outcomes Qualifications - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 / TAE40116), mandatory. - Preferred: An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 5 Diploma in education or equivalent qualification accepted by the University.
