Description:
Reporting to the EGM, this is an autonomous, hands-on role requiring strong leadership and stakeholder management, coupled with complex ‘Client Side’ project governance. Please note that this is a 12–18 month role.
Your key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Client Side Project Delivery: Full accountability for the delivery of a significant operational logistics and process change program of works across NSW
- Manage Supplier Transition: Leverage off your change management expertise to oversee the change from one rail logistics provider to another, ensuring minimal disruption to supply chains.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Lead the capital works required to accommodate the new supplier, including rail facility modifications, weighbridge installations, and pipework adjustments.
- Performance Management: Monitor and hold the outgoing supplier accountable for agreed service levels while onboarding the new supplier.
- Project Reporting & Governance: Develop project plans, track milestones, and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
- Stakeholder & Union Engagement: Work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and union representatives to manage expectations and mitigate potential disruptions.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks related to supply continuity, safety, and regulatory compliance.
What you will bring to this role:
- Proven project management experience, ideally within rail logistics, supply chain, or heavy infrastructure projects.
- Strong Change Management Skills; the ability to lead large-scale supplier transitions while keeping business operations running smoothly.
- Experience in rail freight, transport logistics, infrastructure, or construction is highly desirable.
- Confidence in working with highly unionised environments and managing competing stakeholder priorities.
- Engineering, logistics, or project management qualifications preferred (e.g., PMP, Prince2, or related certifications)
- Able to take full ownership of the project and drive outcomes in a fast-paced, complex environment.
