Role Overview
To actively learn and engage in the diesel mechanical trade through on and off the job training under the guidance and supervision of workshop staff, and safely maintain and operate vehicles, plant and machinery to required standards to (achieve maintain) workshop and organisational goals.
What are we looking for?
Gympie Regional Council is seeking an enthusiastic person looking to launch a career in diesel and heavy plant mechanical repair, based at our Kilkivan depot.
To be successful in this position, candidates will require:
- A demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a genuine willingness to learn the mechanical trade.
- To maintain and operate plant and machinery as required and in a safe manner under the direction and supervision of workshop staff.
- Ensure all timesheets and relevant paperwork are completed and signed correctly in accordance with Council procedures
- Report to the Workshop Leading Hand or Tradesman any defects to plant and machinery requiring attention
Mandatory Licence/Competency (Ticket) Requirements:
- Queensland Driver Licence – Class C or above that is current and maintained or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- General Construction Induction (White/Blue Card) or ability to obtain.
Desirable Skills
- Certificate II in Automotive
On the job training will be provided, along with time and support provided to attend required off the job technical training as required by the Registered Training Organisation.
