Description:

The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA), a leader in affordable housing in Northeast Ohio, is seeking an Associate General Counsel (Litigation) to assist with litigation and provide legal guidance on housing and employment matters, supporting our mission and vision. The Associate General Counsel plays a vital role in managing legal matters essential to protecting CMHA’s interests and ensuring compliance with applicable laws. This position focuses primarily on litigation, managing all phases of legal disputes, including pre-litigation counseling, discovery, trial preparation, and resolution. The Associate General Counsel will also provide legal guidance on housing and employment-related issues and represent CMHA in various administrative and judicial proceedings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented approach to litigation and will actively support the Authority’s mission, vision, and values while enhancing workplace culture for internal and external stakeholders.

SALARY: $95,000 - $105,000 (commensurate with experience)

SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in housing and real estate law.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and assume immediate responsibility.
  • Strong legal research, writing skills and communication skills.
  • Must be collaborative, cooperative and collegial.

OTHER: Possession of a valid Ohio Vehicle Operator’s license and insurability under CMHA standards.
