Longtrail Farms is currently seeking an experienced Irrigationist to join our team located in Parilla, Southern Mallee on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Irrigation Manager, you will coordinate all activities associated with irrigation operations that support optimum planting and best practice harvest. Install, maintain and service irrigation systems and mentor and support junior farmhands.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Determine hydraulic parameters for an irrigation system.
· Implement an irrigation-related program.
· Schedule irrigations.
· Select and manage pumping systems for irrigation.
· Interpret and apply irrigation designs.
· Supervise irrigation system installations.
· Supervise irrigation maintenance.
Skills and Experience:
· At least a relevant AQF Cert II or equivalent AND at least 1 year (20+hpw) relevant post qualifications experience OR Have at least 2 years (38+hpw) relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
· Extensive experience with irrigation systems.
· Mechanical aptitude.
· Previous experience operating farm machinery.
· Knowledge of irrigation practices.
· Chemical User Permit or willingness to complete.
· Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and ability to use Apps.

o Working diligently and with purpose;
o Appropriately directing junior members of staff to increase productivity; and
o Working unsupervised when required.
· Communication: Maintain open communication with all staff and participate in all staff meetings.
· Record keeping: Maintain accurate and timely recording of all activities in your area of the business.
· Safety: The business aims to drive a safety-first culture and ensure that all staff and contractors are adhering to the policies set by the business. It is a requirement of all staff to set the standard and drive this culture.
· Presentation: Improve the presentation of the overall business. Individually everyone needs to ensure their vehicle, machinery, equipment and yard, at a minimum, are neatly presented. Ideally, all staff can be anywhere around the farm or business and feel a sense of pride for their workplace.
