Randstad is proud to partner with the Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service (TALS) in their search for a Senior Criminal Lawyer to join their team on the beautiful North West Coast of Tasmania in Burnie. This region is the gateway to some of the island's most stunning natural landscapes, including pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and the beautiful Cradle Mountain region.

About You:

  • Significant experience in criminal practice and procedure, with substantial experience in appearance work in the Magistrates Court and experience in the Supreme Court.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supervising staff, including junior lawyers.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others and foster a positive team environment.
  • An understanding of the social issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to a wide variety of people.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills, demonstrating a history of maintaining positive and effective partnerships.

Requirements:

  • You must be a Registered Legal Practitioner in Tasmania or meet the eligibility requirements to become one.
  • The selected candidate will undergo a National Police Check and must apply for a Working with Vulnerable Persons registration.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is essential, as the role entails travel throughout Tasmania.
